MOPs Kick Off

On Friday we had our first MOPs meeting of the year. We had a great turn out..30 ladies arrived ready for some Mommy time.  As I told these sweet ladies in my devotion, MOPs is more than Food,Fun and Fellowship. We want this group to be better Moms, Wives, Daughters, Sisters and Friends because of the goals we work toward each year at MOPs. This years goals are...Embrace Rest, Notice Goodness and Celebrate Lavishly.

Mentor, Debbie, puts the finishing touches on our table. For this meeting we all sat together to enjoy the food but we will break up into four table groups at future meetings. And how do we pick groups? See that big can of flowers in the middle of the table? There are four different kinds of flowers there...each lady picks a flower and that determines her group! My group is the Carnation Group.  About mid year we will choose groups again so that we get to mingle and build friendships.  We like to have assigned seating at the meetings because we do not want a new mom to come in and feel like she is in middle school, looking for a place to eat at lunch!! We want them to know they have a ready made group of cool girls to sit with at each meeting.:)

Great Food!!

Our group leader, Ashley made these cute individual yogurt parfaits!! She found the cups and the cute spoons at The Dollar Store!! She candied some pretzel pieces for the top and oh my goodness, it was delish!

We also had these pretty place mats for each woman. Perfect for taking home for encouragement.

The early birds!!

Lots of old faces and new faces! Everyone got a lei to wear as well! The ladies in the turquoise shirts are the steering team who work so hard to make sure our MOPs group is great!!

If you have some extra time on your hands and you love young moms...check into being a MOPs mentor. It is such a rewarding experience for me and while my own kids do not listen to me, these MOPs moms are happy for any advice I might give them!lol... I am blessed by knowing each and every one of my MOPs moms.

Thanks Tori and Diane. We have a very talented member who comes up with our ideas for decorations. She is great at it. It is fun having a flower theme this year.

This is such a great thing you do for new moms. The decorations are lovely and the food looks delicious! I wish you and all of them a great year of meetings ahead! Choosing a flower is a great way to form a team. Good idea!

Thanks Terri...after we choose flowers and went to small group we made the flowers into pen flowers and we will use them at our meetings. We just used floral tape to add the flower stem to an ink pen. They are so cute. A mom who is in retail says she keeps a pen like that at the cash register as people do not walk off with them!

Arlene this is such a good idea but I'm curious as to what the mums do with their babies? Is there a creche or???? It looks like a fun time, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
Have a good day,

Diana, we have paid nursery workers who look after the little ones. The older children have a Bible story and a craft while the younger ones just play and enjoy a snack. Usually the fee for MOPs is rather high because the cost must cover child care. Our church pays for the child care as they see MOPs as a local ministry so we are blessed in that area. Our moms can pay $25 a year and they get a workbook as well as a bimonthly magazine. If they cannot pay, we turn no one away...some ladies in our church have graciously offered scholarships.
