Answer and Questions

And the Answer to the Question, Who won the March Giveaway is....Diane of Lavender Dreams!! Diane if you would email me your snail mail address to, I will put the Easter towel in the mail to you!! Thanks to everyone who entered. Be looking for another give away on April 1st. And I promise it will not be a gag gift!

Now for the questions. Jazzmin is a new blogger I am following at Magnolias and Grace  Jazzmin is one of our young bloggers and her blog is very cute so head over and visit. Jazzmin posed some questions for her readers and I thought it would be a good blog post for today!! So here you go Jazzmin.

1.What is your favorite era from the past and why?  This is a hard one!!After the primary results from Super Tuesday, I might just choose the 1980s when Ronald Reagan was president. The 80s were a good time in our family history. We moved to Alabama and we welcomed two children.

2.Which season is your favorite? Fall wins hands down. I just love the crisp cool weather after the high temps and humidity of summer! And the colors....eye candy for sure.

3.Favorite Food?  I am a steak and baked potato girl. Hamburgers are second. I have loved hamburgers since I was a child and I think I could eat one every day and be very happy.

4.Favorite Book?  Oh my, this one is almost unanswerable! So many books so little time. One of my favorite books is In This House of Brede by Rumer Godden. Gone with the Wind is another book that I have loved since I read it in the 6th grade. I will stop here before I get started!!

5.Indoors or Out?  I have always been an indoors girl, preferring to read, sew and cook.  I would iron for my mother when I was a girl just so I could stay in the house when there were outside chores to do!!

6.Who is the wisest person you have ever known? Jazzmin you know how to ask questions that make one ponder!! Of course I have known many people in my life that I have thought were wise but there were two who had a great influence on me and on Marvin. Jim and Lillian Neal were our Sunday School teachers when we were newlyweds. Oh the jewels of wisdom these two imparted to our class. We had a chance to see Lillian again several years ago and we thanked her for her influence on us. Jim has gone home to be with the Lord now. Jim was a football player for the Detroit Lions back in his early years out of college and he was a big man in so many ways. Big in his love for the Lord, for his wife and children and for our little Sunday School class. One thing we still do that Jim and Lillian taught us...we make our bed together first thing every morning just like Jim and Lillian did! We have been doing it for 30 something years now. in addition to this the Neils taught us that God comes first in marriage and commitment is vital for a long and happy marriage.

7.Most Memorable Day of your Life?  At 60 it would be hard to pick one but the day I put my trust in Jesus has to be the most memorable. January 20, 1967.  The day I married Marvin and the days when my chldren and grandchildren were born follow right behind.

8.Favorite Season to Decorate for?  Christmas of course. The more bling the better is my motto!!

9. Your Life Verse?  I Samuel 12:24 Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.

10. One Nostalgic Thing?   When we visited Vermont 10 years ago, it reminded me so much of the scenery of my childhood. Vermont (or at least the area I visited) limited Strip malls, big box stores etc. When I was growing up, the landscape in the South was very similar. In my hometown now, it is very different. I know progress is necessary but does it have to be so ugly?

Well that is all for today Folks!! Have a good Hump Day!

I love this post. I just may have to follow this with the same set of questions. I will check out the blogger first.

Loved your answers, especially your life verse from Samuel. And don't get me started on strip malls!

Congrats Diane!! So glad my little chicken is going to roost in your kitchen this Easter. Sandy, Jazzmin is such a sweetheart. She told me that her internet connection is not always good so she does not post or respond on a daily basis. From reading her blog I think she is a busy young woman. Leslie Anne, I hate strip malls as well. They are such an eyesore. I prefer shopping downtown in Decatur where all the old shops are so charming,

Congratulations to Diane and thanks to you for doing this!
I think the 80's were my favorite too. We got married and had 3 kids in that decade, and yes - politics were much better!

Arlene Grimm said...

Mari, I know!! Our culture is very different. How it has changed is just 30 something years is disheartening.

I'm sorry am just now getting to come read your post- I have been having so many problems with my internet. But it's working right now and I don't know how long it'll last so I wanted to comment while it will let it go through :)
That is so special for you to be able to remember the 80s as such a special time, your favorite past era, and have the memories from that decade. And I know many people feel like you that way about that era just for the fact that Reagan was president :)
Love your book picks- I will have to go check out the Rumer Godden book, and GWTW is on my summer list.
The Neals sound like amazing people and what a blessing for you and your husband to have your lives touched so by them. What priceless wisdom they shared. And I can imagine how many people can be blessed by their wisdom through you because you shared that, including me.

I want to reply to your answer for every question because I enjoyed them so much but I don't want you to have to read a novel ;)

What a delight to read your answers- I LOVED getting to know you a bit better :)
Thank you also much for your most recent comment on my blog and letting me know about your post. I haven't been able to check my dashboard frequently.
Thank you for mentioning my blog as well, that is so nice of you.

I started reading your Easter post earlier and want to go finish- I'm enjoying it very much. I love your cross wall- it made me smile so much because it reminds me of my aunt's. She passed in 2014 and she had a wall so much like that. It meant a lot to her.

Hugs and blessings!
Have a wonderful weekend,
