We Love Gulf Shores

We are very fortunate to live six hours away from the beach. In half a day we can make it to the coast and it is an easy drive in the fall when Marvin and I go to celebrate our anniversary. However in the summer you have to be strategic in getting there as everyone is going in one direction...South. We left home at 7:30 and arrived at our destination at 1:30. The trip included a stop for lunch and some bathroom breaks.  Ben and Katy followed a bit later and they ran into a lot of traffic.  But Gulf Shores is worth the aggravation. It is called the Redneck Riveria because it is a popular destination for those looking for a more economic beach vacation. The elite crowd heads to Destin in Florida.:) Gulf Shores is a friendly place, lots of good places to eat and just up the road in Foley is a nice outlet mall to explore on rainy days. So if you are looking for a beach vacation, I highly recommend our little corner of the beach.

Ben and Margaret catching some waves.

Katy and Baylor. To be honest, Baylor did not like the beach. The sound, the motion and the crowds are not a happy place for someone on the spectrum. But he loved the pool so the Hoover Grimm spent lots of time there.

Todd and his boys in the background. This was on one of the Rip Tide days so we did not venture too far from the shore.

My girlies.

Aunt Mimi and Elliott. Margaret could not say Amelia so she started the Aunt Mimi tradition and it stuck.

My beach bums...

Beach Baby

Nancy and Charles took a sea do dolphin tour.

Nana and Grandpa

Hudson gets buried by Hampton and Landon.

And a picture of Ben, Katy and family before leaving on Thursday.

So no more vacation pictures after today!! Thanks for letting me share them with you. And again thanks for the prayers as they were most certainly felt by me and Grandpa.

It sure looks like fun! And I'm glad you enjoyed the water that baseball cap. That's what I wear at the beach, it sure helps keep the sun out of your eyes. I've enjoyed your pics! Hugs, Diane

My cousin, Al, in Michigan sent me that Detroit hat and it works so well for the beach and for walking. I have a big floppy girly one but it flies off in the wind.

How nice that you all got to go and be together at the beach! I'll be down that way with my family later this summer and can't wait!

Leslie Anne our kids grew up going to Tybee Island with a few visits to Plantation at Gulf Shores along the way. I love the easy drive to Gulf Shores and now that we know our way around there we always look forward to eating at our favorite restaurants etc. Hope you have a great time with your crew.

The beach there looks great! I much prefer the Gulf beaches to the Atlantic side. We didn't venture into the water at all last week. Happy faces means great memories!! Thanks for sharing!! Loved seeing these!
