A Happy in the Mail

Don't you love it when you open your mailbox and find a surprise? An envelope that someone has addressed to you by hand? And it is a padded envelope so you know something special is inside?
Well I found one in my mailbox yesterday. It was from my friend, Sharon, who lives in NC. We went to high school together and have become email buddies thanks to her finding my blog online. Another reason blogging is good for you!!

Here is what was inside...

This cute coaster is now on the table in my stitchy spot. Isn't it a hoot? Here in the South, we know all about Hissie Fits. I think they might be Scotch Irish in origin.  We are a group of people well known for our temper and our ability to pout for days over a slight, real or imagined.:)

And yes, every now and then I have been known to indulge in a good old fashioned Hissie Fit.  So a question for my readers who are not Southern, have you ever heard the term hissie fit and is it used in your neck of the woods. If not, what would be a similar phrase? I love to learn about all the great regions of our country and what makes us all tick!!

We have hissie fits here in Virginia. I probably threw one or two while teaching. I love a good mail day; they always make me smile.

What a neat surprise to find in the mail Arlene. Yes I have heard of hissie fits too but I can't remember where as we have lived in 17 different places. And I know I have had a hissie fit or two in my lifetime. LOL!!! RJ

I think hissie fits are pretty much universal. The South may have elevated them to an art form, though. Here, I would probably say someone (even an adult) is having a temper tantrum. I must say the coaster is cute, even though I try not to follow its advice!
