Girls Trip

My mother turned 87 in August and she had a request that she kept bringing up. She would like to go to Pigeon Forge.  My sister, Kristi, got the ball rolling, choosing a date that worked for all of us while Leta reserved hotel rooms.

We set off on a rainy Tuesday but that did not keep us from having fun, shopping and eating out.

Here is the view from our balcony at the hotel.

The creek made the most lovely sound and we found ourselves sitting outside whenever we had a chance.

We also had a visitor...

A chubby ground hog! I do not remember ever seeing one live and in person.  It was obvious he was used to people as he ran all over the creekside.

I did see two bears.

Pardon the frizzy locks...rain does not make for a good hair day when your hair is curly/wavy.

The crew indulged me as I browsed Dixie Darlin, a cross stitch shop.

It was a nice store but I must say that my Local Needlework Store, The Cross Stitch Peddler is still my favorite place to shop.

I enjoyed seeing all the needlework on display. My sister, Kristi, picked up a Mill Hill kit. She said all my cross stitching was making her want to stitch again. Hurray..a convert!!

Here is a picture of the four of us together.

A kind man, snapped this for us. We had a really good time and we made some memories that will last a lifetime.  I am so fortunate to have my mother and my sisters, it is truly a blessing from the Lord.

This was such a great idea for you ladies. I am sure your mother loved having you all together like this. It is great that 87 she can still do something like this.

How wonderful to spend time with your Mom and sisters!! I would have loved to browse through the cross-stitch shop, I probably would have made at least one purchase!! Some things are just hard to resist.

You are so blessed! I loved getting to hear about your trip together! My siblings and I take a trip together every February and it is such a special thank me for all four of us. We alternate between Galveston and San Antonio because we don't want to spend all our time driving. It's being together that counts for us at this point and not the destination.
You know, I seldom find any needleworking supplies at the thrift stores. Finished pieces that have been orphaned and some knitting projects that are in the knitting stage.....which I leave as I'm not a good enough knitter to pick up and finish a work in progress. There may be some treasures I overlook since I'm not familiar with the tools of the craft!
Glad you and your sisters and mother all had a good time. You must get along nicely! My siblings and I do, too. Not Mother though....
