New Spots in Gulf Shores

Every year when we visit Gulf Shores we try to eat at a new to us eatery. This year we tried THREE new places.

First was Lulu"s.

Lucy Buffett is Jimmy Buffett's sister, or as she refers to herself...Crazy Sistah!  I tried the cheeseburger in Paradise.  My favorite cheeseburger in Gulf Shores can be found at Sea N Suds.

Tables are set up on the porch overlooking the canal. Live music was playing as we ate our supper. While we enjoyed our meal, the restaurant is a little too "touristy" for me.

Now that I have your attention. This lovely eatery is Luna's in Orange Beach. I have to say their coffee is the best in the area.  It is roasted in Fair Hope.

I also picked up a cute tee...

I chose the I like Big Cups and I Cannot Lie!

Finally we enjoyed a meat at ACME.

This eatery originated in New Orleans and features Oysters on the Half Shell.

Marvin had fish while I enjoyed a roast beef sandwich that was delicious.

I have to say that our favorite meal in Gulf Shores is to be found at Cosmos up the road at Orange Beach.

Firecracker Shrimp...yummo!

But now we are back home and back to watching our waistlines.

I also wanted to update you all on Marvin's sister. She was able to get onto Big Pine Key last week and she found her home intact. However there is no water and no sewer. The electricity has been restored but it will be at least a week before they can move back. In the meantime she will be staying in a motel in Miami. She said the trees are stripped and the privacy fence was in the neighbor's yard but she can deal with that. Amy works for the state of Florida and they graciously gave her two weeks off to deal with all the effects of Irma.

One final view from the beach...

I took this early one morning before anyone was stirring.  It was a great way to start the day on the balcony with a cup of coffee.

These are interesting restaurants. The firecracker shrimp would be John's favorite. Thankful that Marvin's sister's home is intact. Love the cute t-shirt you chose.

The beaches are always wonderful this time of year. I suspect I will be heading out for a few morning walks soon.

What a nice vacation you had, admiring the tranquil beach view and sipping on coffee is a great way to start your day. I'm glad your SIL didn't suffer too much damage. Hopefully she will be back home soon. Mary

I"m glad Marvin's sister's home wasn't too badly damaged. Scary stuff those hurricanes!

Yum at all those food pics and descriptions. I am enjoying looking and reading but NOT touching!

I'm glad you had a lovely time at the shore. xx

All of the food that you had at the different eateries looks delicious...especially that Firecracker Shrimp!

Thank you for the update on Marvin's sister. I'm so glad that her home is still intact and that she does have a home to go back to when given the clear signal. The motel living isn't fun, but thankful that she has a place to stay and that she is fine.

That firecracker shrimp would be a favorite of mine! Looks a bit like Bang Bang Shrimp from Bone Fish Grill. Trying new restaurants is always fun on when on vacation. Glad you are home safely!! We are back on low carb and happy to have shed the pounds I gained while we were gone.

So happy to hear Marvin's sister's home was not damaged and that soon she will be able to go back home.

Your vacation looked wonderful. I especially love the beach this time of the year. I think we are going this Saturday for a week too. I love how much the prices go down at this time of the year.

All of the restaurants looked great and fun. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
