Stitching Saturday

Some one once quoted 'Where is human nature so weak but in a bookstore." I would have to add bookstore/cross stitch shop.

I made a trip to Hobby Lobby for something then I stopped at The Cross Stitch Peddler.  I knew I would be tempted but I came out with my wallet emptied. Thank goodness I do not carry large amounts of cash with me.

First Hobby Lobby...

I picked up the red frame like the orange and green ones I got last week. Now I should have frames for all my cottages of the month by Country Cottage Needlework. These charts were gifted to me by my fellow addict, Sandy, at I Majored in Home Economics!!

On to my favorite store...The Peddler.

I picked up 8 inch pieces of these linens. Maybe a Christmas ornament for the red one and possibly Martha Washington or Abigail Addams on the blue. I guess I will just add Country Cottage Needleworks as another company that empties my wallet.

This will make some good summer stitching in 2018.

I still need to make some ornaments for my grands.

Some scissors and two boxes of Thread Heaven. If you have not heard, this company is going out of business. I grabbed two more packages. Marlene informed me that another company will manufacture it under a different name and it will be $8 per box.   Some are selling it on EBAY for as much as $25 a box. I sure hope those are not the kind stitchy friends I know who are doing this!

And one finish this week..;

I put this on the fridge for the grands to enjoy. I started on The Most Wonderful FEAST of the year so maybe I can get it done by November.

Have a nice relaxing weekend dear friends.

I can see I'll have to get to HL to buy those cute burlap and wood frame/holders. They are great to switch out seasonal pieces. Price gouging for the Thread heaven is a disgrace...I have used Thread Magic from Joannes and wonder if it's the same quality as Thread Heaven.
Love the new Autumn Chart and the chart for the grands is adorable on your fridge. I wish I had a cross stitch store near me but thankfully I can order online, so much nicer to go in person though far more dangerous to the pocketbook!

You are so good at stitching! Remember the autumn cross stitch you sent me? I put together the threads and fabric, added a needle and hoop and made a kit for Summer to sew. She saw the pattern on my table and asked if she could stitch it for me. Win! WIN!!
She said I’ll think of her every time I look at it. I’m going over to spend the night with her this evening and I’m taking the kit to her. Thank you! You meant to bless me and you actually blessed both of us!

Mary...I admit I succumb to online cross stitch stores as well. I am just unable to help myself.lol I am waiting for Pumpkin Spice Farm to come from 123 Stitch. Linda, I hope the kit will help distract Summer from the pain she is experiencing. I find cross stitching gets my mind off of things for a bit!! Praying the new meds and new diagnosis will bring some relief.

I so enjoy your Stitching Saturdays! Hobby Lobby is just the best place for whatever you need to be creative!

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and got a frame like yours but orange. I didn’t see a red one. Are they with Christmas stuff? That is a great idea for your cottages!

Sandy all three colors were stacked together in the fall section in my store. When I went back I got the last red one and only a few of the green and orange were left. But I bet you could paint them any color easily. ( And now I may go back and get one and paint it blue.:)

Love your latest stash, Arlene! I sure wish we had a local needlework shop--I have to buy 95% of my stuff online or at Joann Fabrics. Just not the same when you can't see it and touch it in person... That frame will be perfect for the little cottages :)

I have never used Thread Heaven so I'm not sure why it is in such demand... guess I should give it a try!

Adorable Halloween finish--I'm sure your grandkids love it!

Well, I am late checking in with all my blogs. I like your new fabric. I have some red polka dots that I need to do something Christmas on or even Valentine's maybe.

Love the new frames from Hobby Lobby Arlene. I need to go to HL anyway so I'm sure I'll be buying a few if my store has any left.

The plaid linen is so lovely. Does it have a name so I can find it online? The red plaid will be perfect for Christmas.

I have never heard of Thread Heaven...what does it do? RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

RJ, I do not know the name of the plaid fabric....my LNS just had them cut into pieces and I did not look to see the name. It is linen but that is all I know. I will ask the next time I go to the Peddler. Thread Heaven is a thread conditioner. It just makes the thread lay more smoothly. I do not use it all the time but when stitching with white or black, I find it helpful!!

Wow, Arlene, some beautiful things here! I am pretty much resolved not to purchase much more in the way of cross stitch until I make some headway with my unfinished or unstarted projects. So far I've been able to resist, but if I had a needlework store locally it might be quite a bit more difficult.

Thank you Arlene. I have a big project coming up in all black and will give the thread treatment a try. RJ
