Looking Back

Cousin Scott posted another picture of Daddy's Barn in the snow.

Technically it is Bruce's barn now but in my mind I can still see my Daddy walking down the road that led to the barn. He has his milk pail with him and he is heading to do the evening chores after a full day working for the US Forest Service. While my sisters and I washed dishes at the sink in the winter, we could look out the window and see the light shining at the barn. When the light went off we knew he would soon be coming to the back porch, taking off his boots and heading to his chair in the living room where he would watch the western that was on that evening. Monday Night was Gunsmoke, Wednesday Night was The Virginian and Friday Night was High Chapparal.  Sweet memories!

And here is a picture one of our Savannah GA friends posted last week.

Snow at Tybee Island. I have sat on that swing many a time, looking out at the water.  Amazing!!

And here is something from Madea....

Times are crazy right now for sure!!

It was sweet hearing about your memories of your dad and the barn. I have things that flood me with memories, too. So many things! I cherish them. Love your little Madea cartoon at the end! Made me smile.

The picture of your Dad's barn looks like a greeting card, so beautiful! Glad it brings back such happy memories for you! Hard to believe all the snow you've gotten down there! Have a great day!

The barn picture is so pretty. I still can't get over snow like that on he coast. That just doesn't happen.

We can always count on Madea to say it like it is! LOL Cute. That photo of your dad's barn is certainly frame-worthy! Your Cousin Scott is a very talented photographer!! I'm hoping the freezing temperatures are behind us now (down here in central Florida anyway)!! We turned the furnace off and the AC is back on! My skin got so dried out with the heat on. (complain, complain, complain!)

Your words painted a beautiful picture of your Dad. It is amazing some of the details I remember about my parents, little things that were special and comforting.

That is a beautiful picture, Arlene ... looks just like a Christmas card! And your memories are just wonderful. I've been thinking I need to get a lot more of my childhood memories written down while I still remember them. Like you, I was blessed with good parents and a wonderful place to grow up. Even though there were some sad times in my childhood, I am thankful for the good things that I remember.
