A Southern Bridal Shower

Sunday afternoon I enjoyed attending a bridal shower for the niece of one of my dear friends. It was held at the Old State Bank in Old Decatur.

Built in 1833, it housed the Tennessee Valley Branch of the State Bank. This building has stood on the bank of the Tennessee river for many years. This is not my photo but one taken on a sunny day. It was a bit over cast as we made our way to this historic venue.

My friend, Diane, and her niece, Allison. I loved the fact that Allison was wearing a corsage! Back in my days, the honoree and the hostesses all wore corsages.

I loved the decor..the quilts were family treasures, shared for the day.

We all gathered around the table as Diane welcomed everyone and prayed for Allison's marriage to be a long and happy one.

The food was delicious...

The chocolate covered strawberries were divine.

Carrot Cake cupcakes.

I loved this special picture...Allison and her fiancé along with her parents and grandparents wedding photos.

Opening gifts with her aunt and her mom on either side.

A lovely day to honor a special young lady. Allison said the shower and all the gifts made the wedding seem REAL!  She will be tying the knot in June with all the love and best wishes of family and friends.

Arlene, Such a lovely shower! That's the first corsage I have seen in years and years!! I was wondering if that tradition is still alive in the South. I love the flowers in the blue mason jar with burlap on the wood cuts. My niece did the same for her outdoor wedding, simple and so pretty. Oh, and that food!!! Interesting venue too!!! Thanks for sharing.

Everything looks lovely. The venue is so pretty. I love that many old buildings are getting refurbished and taken care of. I remember corsages. I think no one does that anymore. Need to bring that back!!!

This looks like the perfect shower...a beautiful setting, great food, pretty decorations and most of all great friends and family all surrounding the lucky young lady. I love that it was held in an old bank and the history behind it. The antique quilts on the tables were so pretty and I'm sure brought back many memories. It looks like the ladies worked hard on all that awesome food and I'm sure everyone enjoyed every bite. Yes I had a corsage for my showers too. I did not know that corsages were not popular anymore...do girls not wear them to the prom anymore either? Thanks for sharing a great time for a special lady. RJ
