In the Country

This was my view from the front porch at Grimmwood on Friday. We call these two geese, Heathcliff and Gertrude. If you are old enough to remember Red Skelton, then you know we stole his idea.  They have been at the pond on and off  since we built the house there. They come flying in at seven in the morning, honking to let us know they have arrived. Perhaps we should refer to them as our country alarm clock.:)

The porch on an early spring morning is my favorite place to me. A cup of coffee in hand, sitting on the swing, listening to the wind chimes as I slowly swing back and forth.

We went by Tractor Supply later in the day...it was Chick Day. I enjoyed watching the little critters but I will just buy my eggs at the store. Marvin is planning going to try bee keeping. Our bees arrive in May. He wants me to paint, Dr G's Honeybees, on the side of his hives. I hope the local bears will read that and leave our hive alone.

Sister Leta, brought me a gift for Grimmwood...

Believe it or not, she found this at The Dollar Store. I love the color!

Have a good day friends...enjoy the great outdoors if you can.

You have a gorgeous view from your porch. I love the names of the geese! All the best to your hubby with his bees. That's a sweet bunny gift. Hope you did not have damage overnight. We are fine but had some noisy thunderstorms.

Your days at Grimmwood sound like the perfect setting to enjoy life to its fullest. We have kept bees in the past and had a lot of hives. We'd rent them out to the orchard owners in the area where we lived at the time. Extracting the honey is so rewarding...especially if you have an extractor...preferabbly an electric one. And the reward in seeing the honey (and tasting it) in jars is like none other! Good luck on your husband's endeavors. That bunny is absolutely gorgeous. I love that color, too. It is popping up everywhere this spring.

The bees are a good idea and will be interesting to take care of. Love that blue bunny! Hugs, Diane

Love the geese names. It is fun going to farm town places. I loved looking at the chicks at the Ace near the farm. My grandmother had chickens even after my PaPa passed away and she moved near town. She loved raising them. Maybe one day for me. I love that Marvin is going to try bees. Have no clue how hard or easy that is, but it will be fun for him to try.

Hmmm, are you sure you were sitting at Grimmwood and not on my back porch? It looks very peaceful, Arlene. Your new bunny is cute and I love its color. Best wishes to Dr. G and his bee raising.

You have such a peaceful setting at Grimmwood, Arlene! I would probably just sit on your porch and stitch the day away :) And the bees--how exciting! I seem to be developing a "thing" for bee charts lately...

Will have to run to the Dollar Store to see if there are more bunnies--he is adorable :)

Bees! Yikes - Marvin is very brave. Love the color of that rabbit. Surely not from the dollar store! So cute! I love sitting on the porch any morning with coffee in hand. :-)

PS I'm so glad you liked your card. I hope it wasn't squished.

Get out of here! This adorable bunny was another dollar tree find. You are so lucky to find such adorable things.

Grimmwood looks like the perfect, most peaceful setting for a wonderful day. I love Carol's idea of sitting on the porch and stitching. I think we should have a Grimmwood stitching retreat. RJ

What a beautiful, peaceful view - minus the honking. :)
That bunny is adorable!
My dad and my grandpa used to have bees. :)

Oh! Beekeeping is a wonderful, fulfilling and rewarding experience! Your husband will love it! My husband kept bees for several years when we lived in a subdivision in Marietta, Georgia. It was wonderful to have so much honey from just one hive ! Good Luck and happy beekeeping!

RJ, I would love to have you an Carol come stitch with me on the porch.:)

Thanks for visiting Barbara. We are about an hour north of Marietta....and Mari, both my dad and granddaddy were bee men too!

I am leaving the bee keeping to Marvin....he is very excited about it.

Gian the card arrived in perfect condition. Your idea to mail it folded inward worked well.

Thanks to all you sweet ladies for dropping by. I am sure if we all gathered on the porch, we would have a wonderful time.

Such an idyllic view!! You are so fortunate to have a place in the country. Marvin has lots planned for his retirement. You are going to enjoy harvesting your own honey! Cute bunny!!!

The honey will taste wonderful, but I am allergic to bee stings and stay as far away from hives as I can. When we visit Joe's client on the ranch, they have several hives near one of the pastures. I don't go anywhere near it!! Yikes! The bunny is adorable! Your porch view is amazing. I would sit there with you! I'm sure the coffee tastes better there than anywhere else!
