Friday Five

1. At our last North Alabama Stitchers meeting, I picked up some white aida that no one wanted. ( We pass the stash at these meetings.) I decided to try my hand at coffee/tea dying.  I was surprised at how easy this is! I will show my results on Saturday Stitching. I used bits from Chelsea and Priscilla and Vonna.  They gave very good directions. And a bonus is the lovely coffee smell that wafts from this fabric.
2. I have a new favorite nail polish color....Grand Canyon Sunset. I believe it has been discontinued but I found a full bottle on the shelf at my pedi salon.  It is such a pretty color. I will be looking for it at TJMaxx.  Often I can find discontinued colors there for a great price.

3. I love avocados but getting them at the perfect moment can be troublesome.

4. I found these reproduction Ball Jar lids at Etsy. I am hoping to put a small piece of cross stitch inside the lid. I have been looking at some small Fall and Christmas Motifs in my stash.

5. My favorite magazine arrived this week and look at that gorgeous cover. It makes me happy!

P. S. I see that we have many things in common. I worked as an RN at Miller Eye Center at Erlanger Medical Center here in Chatta. and saw that you also worked on an eye unit. Small world!

Love the avocado sign-it's so true! I'm going to check out Southern Lady magazine. I loved Southern Living magazine for many years, but have been disappointed in the direction it seems to be taking. This looks more like my cup of tea!

That cake on the cover of your favorite magazine looks delicious! Let us know if you decide to make it, please! I will look forward to seeing your dyed fabric tomorrow! I don't buy avocados but do buy them already cut up in the produce section at Publix. Lots easier than trying to judge ripeness. Happy Friday!

Thanks for all the comments. Terri, how does Publix keep the avocados from turning brown? Seems the minute I slice mine they start turning. I have heard if you leave the pit with the cut it avocado it will not do that...never tried it. Jan I just cancelled my Southern Living magazine. It was just not worth the money. I can buy the Christmas edition on the stands at the store...it typically has some good recipes. Because He Lives, I worked on the EENT floor at Georgia Baptist Hospital when I graduated from Nursing School there. My favorite nursing job was at UGA Student Health back in the 80s. ( And do not call it the INFRIMARY!! They were very sensitive about that.lol

Arlene, oh I do love avocados! You are right that you have to check everyday before it's too late! That is a pretty nail polish color. Not too pink or too red! That cake on the magazine cover would make me smile too!

I love that nail polish color!

Avocados can be tricky. My daughter taught me that if you aren't going to be using them right away the greener the better. If you want them to use soon then a bit of brown is good...just make sure they aren't soft when you touch them.

I shall look forward to seeing what you come up with for the jar lids.
