A Weekend at Grimmwood

Marvin and I had a good long weekend at Grimmwood.  The leaves are slowly changing there and hickory nuts are falling like rain right now. When a hickory nut falls on a tin roof it sounds rather like a gun going off!!  We attended the Ga Tech game and unfortunately we lost AGAIN.  But being on campus on a bright October Saturday is always fun.

The Alumni band played for the crowd at the student center before the game. I would guess there were about 50 members of this band, from old timers to more recent grads.

 I love the tubas.

The Spirit girls were there to get the crowd excited about the game.

I also spent some time stitching on my Christmas Quaker.

I have to say that I am really enjoying this stitch.  I think it is because it takes all my attention as you cannot make a mistake or it will show!

As much as I enjoy our happy place, it is good to be home.

That stitch is so pretty. I really like it on the Aida cloth. Sometimes that is just hard to beat!
It is always fun to me to be on campus...win or lose. I just like the festivities.

So happy you could enjoy a weekend at Grimmwood. Ours was spent at The Wilds of New England, and even though we had a bit of rain on Saturday it didn't dampen our spirits at all.

Your stitch is beautiful. I know I am old fashioned, but I will go for Aida every time. I love the way this piece is looking!

Wow! Love that bright blue sky--please send some sunshine up north, Arlene :) Love the piece you are working on and your description of the hickory nuts at Grimmwood. We had two huge trees overhanging our house and nuts galore at this time of year. My mom used to pay us kids to pick them up and shell them and she would make a hickory nut cake each October :)

How nice to get to go to the game...wish they had won! LOVE your stitching too. I'm still working on a Fall pattern but will go to something for the holidays after this! Hugs!
