Day Out with Diane

Every year my friend, Diane, and I take a day to go shopping together, to have lunch and to do a bit of visiting.  This year we went to Huntsville for lunch.

We ate at 1872 East in Five Points. It sure was good.

Diane had Chicken Pot Pie

I had the chicken sandwich

I took home half of this and shared it with Marvin for dinner.

We had hoped to shop in downtown Huntsville but the parking situation there is just dismal so we headed up the road to Athens, Alabama and shopped on the square.

The courthouse for Limestone County was decorated for the holidays. All the shops are located on the square around the courthouse.

Trinity's is one of my favorite shops.

I always admire the shop trees...they are so lovely.

Each year Diane and I purchase an ornament to remember the day by....

This year we chose these retro tvs. Mine has Rudolph and Diane's has Santa!

You know you are in the South.

This reminded me of the late President Bush and his love for crazy socks.

I do love my state.

Seen in a jewelry store pretty.

Our final stop was at Ug White Mercantile where you can find all kinds of things. From old candy to work clothes and even a butter churn.

The big bowl of Cotton Boll Angels  really say Alabama.

We had such a fun day and we counted up that this was our fifth year of shopping together! Here's to many more.

I enjoyed your shopping trip. Looks like a place I would enjoy. Those ornaments are so cute too. That chicken pot pie looked delicious AND I spied a real cute purse on the table.
You looked lovely in your little leopard sweater.

Well....I'm not the Diane that got to go shopping with you but it sure would have been fun! And yes...I would have gotten the chicken pot pie too! heehee! LOVE those little retro tvs and all the pretty things in the stores. I'm not much of a shopper these days but I would love to go with you! Holiday hugs!

What a fun day you had!! We have great little shops in downtown Lakeland and I just don't take advantage of it. I did shop at the Museum's store today, though! That food looks yummy!

You were not far from my school. You should have come up to see the beautiful snow we had at Monte Sano. I agree with the parking in downtown Huntsville. They have done a lot to the downtown area but parking is still a nightmare! Glad you enjoyed your day of shopping.
