Saturday Stitching

Happy Stitchy Day! I did a lot of stitching at Grimmwood.

Here is my progress on Silver Creek Samplers My Christmas List.  I only put one motif on Christmas Quaker 2 while I was there, I was hooked on the Christmas list.  I changed the candle motif on this sampler. I think RED candles say Christmas. Also the color charted seemed to fade into the background. If I could start over I would choose a darker fabric!  If any of you watch Lost in Floss on You Tube, you saw Barb's GIANT Christmas list. I am looking forward to seeing her piece FFO'd. I think hers would make a pretty wall hanging.

I had a finish here at home before we left...

This is one of my older WIPs....I changed this one a bit as well. It had flowers charted on the lawn and under the flag but hey, Molly Pitcher was on the battlefield so I wanted the piece to reflect that. I also stitched her name in red to reflect her stamina and courage in caring for the fallen men of the Revolution.  This stitch will be finished as  a  small pillow so she can join Martha Washington and Abigail Adams in my pewter bowl this summer.

This is my current stitch...Shakespeare's Peddler Teacups. Teresa says stitch it in whatever color you wish so I went with blues. (  Eggplant for the dark blue, Princess Blue for the lighter color and Dove Grey for the silverware) All are  Colour and Cotton flosses. It is stitched on Cashel 28 ct Antique White....a piece I got for free at the Retreat! I decided to use three strands of floss and I am really liking that look.

I enjoyed this stitch so much that I  purchased the companion pieces.

I will put some thread on these small spools to use as embellishments and I ordered some old keys from to go along with the Key Pillow.  These are really quick stitches.

I may use these carrots when I finish my bunny pillows.

I went by the new Hobby Lobby....well we have had a Hobby Lobby but the business moved to a bigger store. I had been delaying my visit until the new wore off.  It has much the same things just more room for buggies and people.

I bought a finishing pen....the blue disappears with water. I find this very helpful in stitching straight lines. I also picked up some even weave that I am in the process of baking. I already basted it. I really enjoy dying my own small pieces of fabric. I may try my hand at doing some colors instead of tea one day soon.

Speaking of Colour and Cotton....I received my new flosses this week.

And finally...a surprise giveaway...

The Spring edition of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher.  Just leave a comment telling me who your favorite designer is and why you like them.  I will announce the winner next Saturday. Do not mention the word giveaway. We want to avoid those nasty trolls.  I value all the stitchy ladies who come to visit me on Saturday Stitching.

I love your Christmas list. It reminds me why I still love me some Aida cloth for stitches such as this. I don't think it could be any prettier on any other color.
I also love your little Molly. I would have never known the cannon didn't belong there.
The teacups and the blues are beautiful too. If I were to ever try punch needle which I don't think I ever will that bunny would be my sure thing to try.
You know I can't really pick a favorite designer. I have been thinking a lot lately about how much I loved the old Leisure Arts designs.

What a fabulous post to read with my coffee this morning, Arlene! Great progress on your Christmas List! Molly looks super and I love your changes with her. The blues you are using for the Teacups stitch are gorgeous. Your new shipment of C&C threads are as well. What are the names of the purple and blue?

Hmmm, hard to pick a favorite! I would say The Prairie Schooler although Blue Ribbon Designs, Heartstring Samplery and Heart in Hand run closely behind.

Enjoy your weekend!

Everything is so cute today! I love the Christmas list, the old keys are charming and those carrots are adorable!
I love to see your stitching, but don't enter me as I'm not a current stitcher.

Love your Christmas list, Arlene--the red for the candle is a perfect choice! And your Molly finish is darling, as well. I love the blues you're stitching Teacups in--very nice choices...

Such a cute bunny on that magazine, I was just looking through mine the other day. Such a high-quality magazine!

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead :)
