Saturday Stitching

Ta DA....

Two White Houses is now a drum.

I want to add some trim to the top so that means a trip to Hobby Lobby with my Drum in Tow. The ladies in the fabric and trim section know I bring my stitching with me to the store to find just what I need to finish a project. Thanks to RJ and Mary...the fabric on top is from the box I won in their giveaway. They have saved me quite a bit this spring with supplies.  Sharon at Mossecraft USA shared one of her finishes using some rick rack and pins as trim.( oops Moosecraft USA) I am thinking of using her idea on the top of the drum. Thanks Sharon!!  One thing I will say about finishing a drum, over stuff it. I use Vonna's method and it is very helpful. I could have used a bit more stuffing on this one. This is the tallest drum I have made since I have been "drumming".  Also I left about two inches of blank fabric at the back as I wanted my houses to be seen  at a glance. No one sees the back so leave a little extra fabric if you wish.

I got a good bit done on this sweet piece...

Such a fun stitch from Threadworks Primitives.  Aptly named Witches Ride.

One evening's work on November Word Play...

I am using my coffee tea dyed Aida and my choice of flosses.

I started a Christmas ornament...

I try to work on a few throughout the year. The flosses are Priscilla and Chelsea's Christmas thread pack from Fat Quarter Shop. So glad the Fancy Floss dyers are back at their jobs.

Now is the time to pick up these frames at Hobby Lobby before they are gone. Perfect for holding the small cross stitch projects. Red for Christmas, Orange for Fall.

I got out my June Word Play this week.

It is on the kitchen hutch. I used a magnet to attach it to a bread board I found at TJ Maxx last year. And see that little camper? I found it at Target in the dollar spot. The small blue cupcake holder is from Hobby Lobby. I like to pick up these cuties for displaying this that and the other...never cupcakes however.:)

I got some of my Birthday Haul.....

I plan to use the Santa thread keeps for my Kringles project. I got to Hobby Lobby to get the rest of the DMC flosses that I needed.

Happy Stitching Blog Buddies.

Arlene the drum is gorgeous!! I want to make a drum now...It came out excellent. Glad the fabric came in handy!! Love your new start on the witch stitch. You got alot done for one night for Nov word play!! I bought that orange frame from HL last year, haven't used it yet. The June word play vignette is so pretty, great find on the little camper and I will have to look for those cupcake holders. Great idea!

Just recently found your blog and enjoy reading. Lately I've been interested in working on wordplay stitches. Is there a pattern somewhere for your monthly wordplay stitches? Would love to do something like this. Thank you and be safe

The drum was the perfect way to showcase this one! And I love June wordplay! Enjoy your weekend. With the rain, I may even decide to do some stitching. AND...thanks for the sweet comment today. It means a lot to me! Hugs!

It is always fun to see what you have been up to!! I love the drum finish and how cute to display it on a candle holder (or is that a cupcake holder?). I haven't been to Hobby Lobby in months and months. I'm not a crafter (anymore) but do enjoy popping in to see all the pretty things they always have. Happy weekend!

Love this piece as a drum! Difficult to imagine what the rick rack would look like on it...have you tried it yet? LOVE those little frames at Hobby Lobby... ours hasn't opened yet.... but, soon! :-) I'm not familiar with the Witches Ride pattern.... going to have to see if I can find it. Happy stitching!

Wow! What a fabulous job you did on your drum, Arlene! I really need to spend some time at Vonna’s tutorials and learn to make one myself.
