Friday Five

I thought I would share my five favorite Christmas Movies as my Friday Five before Christmas.

1. A Christmas Carol

Only George C Scott as Scrooge will do for me. Marvin and  I save this movie for Christmas Eve.

2. Charlie Brown Christmas

I know it is not technically a movie but I love it. When Linus explains what Christmas is all about, my heart grows two a good way!

3. Miracle on 34th Street

I prefer the newer version myself. I am a sucker for New York at Christmas.

4. Ernest Saves Christmas

This was my the favorite movie of my children when they were small so it always brings back sweet memories for me. Who can resist Earnest P Worrell?

5. Home Alone

Made in 1990, McCaulay Culkin is the same age as our Amelia. Which means he would be 39 years old this Christmas. How is that possible? Kevin!!!

A few runners up would be.... While You Were Sleeping which is my favorite chick flick along with You've Got Mail.  I also enjoy The Preachers Wife with Whitney Houston. The older version with Carey Grant is good too...called The Bishop's Wife for those of you who do not know your old movies. The Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3 are all cute as well.

Now for something that will really disappoint some of you. I am not a fan of The Christmas Story. That movie never appealed to me. I think it has to do with the little boy putting his tongue on the frozen flag pole. I have friends that count it as their favorite Christmas movie so no accounting for what appeals to each of us!

Thanks for this list. I have seen most of them and would add The Nativity Story as one of my favs. We watched it earlier this week.

Merry Christmas, Arlene!

I could NOT watch the Christmas story. I'm definitely NOT a fan. And you have even mentioned some movies I've never seen! I'll have to look for them. Holiday hugs!

I just love "While You Were Sleeping"! I think I might treat myself and watch it today! But my very favorite of all time is "White Christmas" and I haven't watched that one yet this season either! I definitely have to catch up on my movie watching this weekend! Hope you and Marvin have a very Merry Christmas!

I enjoyed your list, Arlene! I'm in your corner with that movie, The Christmas Story. I haven't seen The Preacher's Wife, but The Bishop's Wife is one of my favorites.

My favorite is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It's not Christmas without Clark Griswald.

I do love The Christmas Story. George C. Scott is not my favorite Scrooge. That goes to Alistaire Sim in the 1951 version, but George C. Scott is a close 2nd. We like Polar Express, While You Were Sleeping, The Holiday, and Christmas Vacation. I like the old Natalie Wood 34th Street. They are all good!

I love all of these, too, Arlene, but I actually love A Christmas Story. And I'm with Meg--Christmas Vacation never fails to make me laugh out loud :)
