Saturday Stitching

Well as you can imagine I did not get much stitching done last week! I did finish one piece.

This is Ebenezer's Blessing from Erica Michaels. I did change a few things on this one. I used Cupid and English Ivy as my flosses and it is stitched on 16 count tarnish that I purchased from Jen's Stitching Niche on Etsy.

I also got some work done on my November Word Play.

I have changed all the colors on this one....just using colors from my stash.

I received this in the mail....

Cathy Habermann has another winner in my opinion. She plans to do a chart for each season.  My Halloween Issue of Just Cross Stitch arrived as well. I have to say this may be the last time I purchase this edition of the magazine. I was not impressed with the designs. I am hoping the Christmas issue does not disappoint.

I plan to order this chart from The Housewives.

It is adorable. I will probably make some changes as I will not be stitching on black.

I have two Christmas charts I plan to order as well.

Douce Nuit by Tea La La.

I have been eyeing the cardinal from Blackbird and my cousin finally talked me into ordering it. She is getting it as well. ( And really it did not take any arm twisting.!) I have seen this big red cardinal stitched by a fellow North Alabama Stitcher and it is incredible.  When you see the charts stitched they are quite impressive. The photos on the charts do not do them justice.

Have a good stitchy week Friends.

You have lots of stitching ahead my friend. Seeing the ones for Christmas or any of the fall/winter holidays makes me realize how fast time is fleeing. Enjoy your weekend.

I can totally understand no stitching being done while keeping the kids. I can't stitch on black at all. I have a wonderful piece of black linen that I really wanted to do a space stitch on, but I have tried every tip I have read and I just can't see on it. I would hate it by the time I finished it, so no black for me. Looking forward to more stitches.

Arlene, You accomplished more than I have! A finish and nice progress on the word play. Is the Christmas stitch going to be an ornament for yourself?

We have similar taste, I'm ordering that HOD chart too and I already have the Christmas BB book. I want to stitch that cardinal myself, it is stunning!!
The little mouse with Santa is just adorable....

Hi Arlene, have have some great choices in your stash! I also ordered the JCS Halloween Ornament Issue and I really don't know why because I don't stitch too much halloween on a good day. I have been a little disappointed in the last couple of Christmas issues too, but I can usually find a couple of ornaments I would like to stitch. I am a huge fan of Black Bird Designs, and have a few hanging on my walls. And, I have the cardinal pattern you are talking about. One thing I have learned with BlackBird is that you almost need to stay true to their thread/color choices to get the effect. I use a lot of DMC because it is convenient (Hobby Lobby), and cheaper than so many of the specialty threads. But, with The BlackBird designs, I break down and buy the specialty threads they suggest and fabric too. Thanks for such a great post today. Many blessings to you and yours.

Arlene, well done on getting the Christmas piece finished and a bit of stitching in on your Wordplay while keeping the grands. What lovely things you have ordered and/or received! Enjoy your weekend! Happy August!

Arlene, I've not started yet on the second wordplay because I got sidetracked. Found out we are going to be great grandparents to our 4th and it is a girl. Went on the hunt for a birth sampler. Found one and am now working on it. I love any of the pieces using words. Will also be watching the Cathy Habermann pieces, but I don't know about the black. Look forward to reading your blog and always watch for a new post. Take Care and be safe!
