New Years Friday Five

 1. Moonlight at Grimmwood.

As the new year begins, I will share this photo I snapped while outside one evening at Grimmwood. The moon was so pretty and the sky just seemed to remind me that God is here. 2020 has been a crazy year and who knows what 2021 has in store so I choose to TRUST the Creator.

2. Baylor's special Christmas gift

Baylor loves to swing and the weather does not always allow for that outdoors so Ben and Katy came up with the idea to put a swing in the basement closet.

3. Coloring with Joshua and Audrey

We made the round complete with a visit to Charles and family in Georgia. I enjoyed coloring with Audrey and Joshua. Believe it or not I got up from the floor with no help whatsoever!! We were wearing masks there as we had been exposed to covid. We were past the CDC recommended quarantine but we wanted to be on the safe side.

4. My favorite Christmas gift

I have always wanted an authentic tobacco basket for Grimmwood. The ones at Hobby Lobby are small and light. This baby is the REAL Thing. It is heavy and worn, just like I hoped to find.  I had seen this basket in the window at The Willow Tree in Henagar, Alabama  for months as we traveled by on the way to Georgia. My sweet husband gave me some Christmas money so I was able to purchase it and it was 20% off which made me a happy little shopper. Many have asked me what is a tobacco basket?  Long ago, farmers would put their tobacco leaves in baskets like these, head to market and the buyers would check out each farmers basket and bid the amount they wanted to pay for his crop.  I had never heard much about tobacco farming until we moved to Louisville, Ky. Tobacco farming was a big thing in Kentucky.

5. A Memory from 30 years ago.

Leta and Bruce just celebrated their 30th anniversary. Here is a picture of my parents and their girls and husbands. As Leta said, we all look pretty young in this picture.:)

5 good posts this morning. I love the swing! I have never heard of the tobacco baskest so that was a learning experience. The Happiest of the New Year to you and yours

Love the fashion from years ago. We did dress up back then.
The moon has been pretty and is certainly pretty above the fields in the clouds. I kinda have to roll to get up but I can still. Have a great day.

That swing for Baylor is perfect for him! I love your tobacco basket, perfect for your Grimmwood. I haven't gotten on the floor in so long! With my new knees, I might be able to get up without help but I'm not ready to try it yet!! Happy new year!!

What a great idea for Baylor!!! I know you loved your time at Grimmwood! We will be going down to the ranch towards the latter part of this month and stay a couple of weeks.
I love the 30 year old photo! You and Marvin looked good then and you look good now!!
Happy New Year!

Loved seeing all your pictures. I'm most impressed with you getting off the floor with no assistance. Okay, I need more practice at getting off the floor. At nearly 70, I find myself looking for the help of a chair to lean on. Have a blessed week and thank you for all the times you've led me down the path of buying more cross stitch patterns. Arlene, what a wonderful idea about the swing in the basement! I'm glad you were able to get up from coloring. I have been in that very situation recently. Slowly and surely getting up! I've never seen a tobacco basket. Very interesting. Love the photograph!

You got a great moon shot!
Baylor is going to enjoy that swing. Such a good idea.
Good for you for coloring and then getting up all on your own. :)
Nice pic of you and your parents and sisters.
