We did not get to visit with our friends, Brian and Euny( Eunice). On Wednesday last week their daughter who is a senior in high school tested positive for covid. While we were sad that the trip was cancelled we realize that God in His Providence guides our steps. Thankfully Delta will allow them to use the tickets later this spring. We did do a Face time chat with them on Sunday and it was good to catch up.
We lived next door to each other in the late 80s in Huntsville, Alabama. Their older sons were about the age of our youngest, Charles. Brian and Euny have nine children ranging from 37 to 18. They are a devout Catholic family and we so enjoyed being their neighbors. They moved to Ohio about the time we moved to Decatur and we lost touch for some years until Facebook reunited me and Euny.
Euny and I both enjoyed needlework so that was a bond we had even then. She is a life time member of SAGA, Smocking Arts Guild of America. I was the one who got her started back in the day and she continued on with her love for this art. I smocked a bonnet for her baby daughter, Mary Cate. I haven't really smocked since Amelia was a little girl but Euny has used her skills in many different articles of clothing. She also helps with the costumes for her local youth ballet company so she is a busy lady. In addition to this she does tatting demonstrations at the local Irish Festival. So now you can see what drew us together and how we were able to just pick up where we left off.
Marvin and I did get our second dose of the Moderna vaccine. We both had sore arms and then Saturday evening we were both a bit achy but nothing that an OTC pain reliever could not fix. We are so glad to have this behind us. We are off to Grimmwood where it seems March showers will bring April Flowers. It is almost time to clean off the front porch and get ready for porch setting and sunset watching. Looks like March is coming in like a lamb in our neck of the woods and for that I am thankful.
