Entry Way, Kitchen and Dining Room

From the garage you come into a hallway with a coat closet. What a luxury that is....right now it needs some attention and organization but I am not opening that door today!

I hung my Cotton Basket print here as a welcome to guests. I did not want a lot of things hanging here as it is the entrance we will use on a daily basis. And I did not realize that the ceilings in this house are painted a light taupe. That will be changing when I have them painted in the future.

The entry dead ends into the hall where the Man Cave and the Guest Room are located. My purse bench and the Ansel Adams print are right in front of you as you come inside the house.

Turn left and you will enter the kitchen. One of the best things about this home is that it is so similar to th e townhouse in many ways. I was able to use what I had with only a few new things.
I am really enjoying the cream colored cabinets and the nice granite counter tops. They are a higher quality than I enjoyed at Jackson Way.
Apple green and blue are two of my favorite color choices for my kitchen.

You all know I like a pop of red as well.

Fridge is an upgrade as well. Garbage can is nearby and Nana's candy dish is put away as Baylor is coming this week and he would be too curious about that!
I purchased the bar stools from the previous owner. They are perfection.
I also purchased this desk stool. Well actually Marvin purchased them for me as a birthday gift. I could not be more pleased with my gift.

Desk and more cabinets. I get to enjoy my small print from Tammy Eddy Antiques as I work at my desk. Coffee bar is on the left, my work basket is on the right. My work basket has gotten piled up with things from the move. I need to organize now that things are unpacked. I also need to purchase some pretty paper plates and napkins at Hobby Lobby.

I did put up my June Word Play...it needs some attention as the ruffle got all scrunched up in the  move. I also put out Oh Say Can You Sea Drum by Hands on Design. The little camper on top of it is from Target Dollar Spot.

Came across this lovely towel in the move and put it on the stove right away. It was a gift from a dear friend.

Now to the dining room.
Buffet and new side chairs.
Table...you get a sneak peek of the sun room through the double doors. the hall way to the right leads to the master bedroom. My new chandelier came today! Hoping I like it.

China cabinet....

My dear childhood friend, Linda, sent me this canvas of Grimmwood. I put it above this small Ray Ellis print.  Linda hit the ball out of the park with this one.

I just love these trays I purchased at Andersons Consignment.  It is the store where I found my coffee table. If you live in North Alabama, a trip to Decatur to check out their goods is a no brainer. There is a lamp there that I have my eye on!

I moved my small Ray Ellis print of Isle of Hope to the wall above the buffet. I got rid of my big mirror as this house is filled with light! One of the perks of a stand alone home vs a townhouse. I was talking to my old neighbor and she tells me that my old townhouse is going to be painted white through out.  I would love to see it when the new owner finishes decorating. I know white is the big color in decorating right now but as an old nurse it brings back memories of the hospital.:)  I love cozy areas and colors.  It is good we all get to choose our own colors and decor for our homes. I can get a feeling for the home owner when I visit and see what colors and furnishings they enjoy.  To each his own!

It is so fun to see the new. I love that sunroom. I have a feeling you will find yourself there a lot. It is all very pretty. Those barstools were made to go with your mixer. AND you know I love color. It is good we get to do our way for sure.

Enjoyed the tour of the rooms you shared, Arlene. And chuckling about putting the candy dish away! Looking forward to seeing your sun room.

Oh, your house is lovely, Arlene--I especially love the kitchen with those green barstools! The ceiling color certainly is unusual--I would probably have to change it, too. So glad you are enjoying more light for a stand alone home, too--that makes so much difference and I know you'll spend many happy stitching hours in your sunroom! Enjoy :)

You're already getting those personal touches that make a house a home. Love that you mix colors in the kitchen...I do too! And the bar stools and small stool are just perfect! I know you are loving your new home already!

Your new home is shaping up beautifully. Know you will enjoy it. Love your response to white. As a nurse, I have never wanted to wear white, especially not white shoes.
